Tommy's Sleep Study

On Easter we travelled all the way to Bellevue's Overlake Hospital to the Children's Hospital Sleep Clinic. We finally got Tommy a sleep study! YEAH!!! Maybe they'll find out what's wrong and Jami and Tommy can finally get some sleep at night! Here's our little man before the sleep study looking all sweet and innocent! Yeah little Jami know when she agreed to sleep in the

bed as Tommy that she was in for one "fun" night of sleep! Tommy performed very well on his sleep study! He woke up at least 8 to 9 times during the night. At least 4 or 5 of those were trying to sleep walk, 2 were from being uncomfortable and the others were bad dreams and such. Here is Jami & Tommy getting ready for bed! And here is Tommy all hooked up to the wires and monitors. Doesn't he look cute? Yeah, we think so. He did such a great job. He was so patient and didn't complain during the study at all. We will find out the results in a few weeks!

Make-A-Wish Art Workshop

So on Saturday (1/27/07) we travelled up to Seattle to join other kids from Make-A-Wish for a Wish Art Workshop with Seattle artist Fumi Watanabe. We had a blast! We arrived at the School of Visual Arts in the morning full of artists ideas. We discovered that our art was supposed to represent our wish! Tommy was all for that! Tommy started the day off with a big smile knowing he was going to get to do one of his favorite hobbies! Painting, drawing, and more.... He was also very excited about meeting a "real artist" for the first time (as he said). Tommy got right to work brainstorming ideas that represented his "wish". He drew a picture of the airplane we rode on to get to Florida. He drew enough windows for each member of his family and even drew their pictures inside the window. We were all impressed with Tommy's artistic abilities. But in the end he decided not to use the picture of the plane as it was too big for the picture. He had too many things about his "wish" that he enjoyed! He then moved on to painting a picture of his family with Mickey and Minnie mouse. Fumi and the Make-A-Wish people were very excited about his picture. They told him that his picture was so cool and excatly the kind of art they wanted to see. Then he drew a picture of the green knight from Medieval Times. Finally he decided to paint SpongeBob SquarePants to show how he was upset that he didn't get to see SpongeBob and his sisters did. But he knew that he had made the choice to not meet SpongeBob which on his wish. After we had all his paintings done, we had the task of deciding which ones would go on his picture and which would not. So while Tommy took a short break to eat some Gummi Bears, Mommy started cutting out his paintings for him. Then we had the task of selecting the colors and papers for his background image. What an assortment Fumi had brought to choose from. We decided to make it be the sky and the ground. First Mommy showed Tommy how to tear the paper to create a jagged effect on the end to represent the green grass. He thought that was pretty cool and we had to stop him from ripping every piece of paper he grabbed! It was fun! Then they had this strange kind of glue. It was almost like paste you used in elementary school but after you mixed it up it was the consistantcy of water. It was really messy but it worked really well to glue our paper and paintings down. Well, now that we had all our background glued down it was time to start arranging our collage of paintings. We tried quite a few different options but this one seemed to stick with Tommy. He seemed to really like this way of arranging them! And finally we reached our final product which will be auctioned off at the Make-A-Wish Gala and Silent Auction. Great Job Tommy!
